This candle is everything I hoped it would be, and it’s my first Fontana purchase. The scent is what I imagine when I look at cozy illustrations of forest cabins, or when I think about chilly air and hot cider at a corn maze, with the earthy fiber scent mixed in.
Before the first burn when I smelled it out of the box, the cardamom was very strong, and I was afraid it would be overpowering, but after burning, the cardamom mellowed and the scent became a soft blend of light vanilla, woodsy, and just a little bit sweet — not cloying at all. I would say it’s a “mature” scent, in that it doesn’t hit you in the face or smell like an overpowering sugar rush with the vanilla.
I made sure to burn it about 3.5 hours the first time, and I haven’t had any trouble with tunneling or with keeping the wick lit.
I plan to order the Pumpkin Pie and Ginger Chai next, or maybe Harvest Apple. I can’t decide 😭
If you loved the idea of a scent blend when you ordered but are not sure you like it out of the box, I would encourage you to go ahead and burn it to try it, because it doesn’t smell the same once it burns.
