Understanding the Scent Strength of Essential Oil Candles

Understanding the Scent Strength of Essential Oil Candles
We often receive inquiries from well-meaning first-time customers asking why our candles aren't more strongly scented and suggesting we add more oil. It's important to understand that essential oils are highly flammable, which limits the amount we can safely use. While we strive to create wonderfully scented candles, our primary responsibility is to ensure they are safe to burn.

Back when we began crafting essential oil candles in our home in 2017, we made the mistake of using too much essential oil, resulting in entire candles catching fire—a not a very relaxing experience!

Unlike traditional fragrances, essential oils also lack the chemicals that help disperse scent. Synthetic fragrances are formulated with additives like vybar to enhance scent distribution. Therefore, achieving the same intensity of fragrance with essential oils is a challenge.
Chemical additives often prevent those with sensitivities from enjoying traditional scented candles. That's precisely why we exist—to craft candles for individuals who react to fragrances.

We understand the challenge of searching online for your favorite scent, especially regarding scent intensity. To address this, we've implemented scent strength filters on our website, making it easier to find the perfect scent.
On our website's "candles" page, you'll find the scent strength filter in the left-hand column. If you prefer a delicate scent experience, characterized as sheer, soft, or subtle, explore our selection of light scents here: https://fontanacandlecompany.com/collections/scent-light.
